What is the MAMM Method?

The MAMM Method is a unique combination of meditation, aromatherapy, and mindful movement through yoga that helps to teach individuals to move into a calmer, more relaxed state of being.

The MAMM Method combines the science of meditation and yoga with aromatherapy to give you tools that help release self-limiting thoughts, increase positive thinking, aid in lowering stress levels, and improve your overall sense of well-being. All of this helps to move you from a frantic, stress ridden mindset into one that is more balanced and calmer.

Meditation & yoga can change your brain!

Meditation and mindful movement in the form of yoga have both shown in numerous scientific studies to help create, over time, new neural pathways. Neural pathways are the connections that form between the neurons in your brain. In essence, they are the pattern that represents any thought you have had, whether that thought is good or bad. Neural pathways are formed over time and are very powerful in determining how we behave and interact with the world around us. The more negative thoughts we have, the more often our brain relies on our “negative” neural pathways. Don’t get discouraged though! Neural pathways CAN be changed!

Changing neural pathways is known as neuroplasticity. This means we can reprogram our neural pathways and we can even create new ones. In order to reprogram your neural pathways or create new ones you have to repeat a thought or action repeatedly over time. How much time you ask? Well, that’s still up for debate even among neuroscientists. On average, it’s been shown to take 66 days of repetition to form a habit, which could potentially mean a change in the neural pathway. It also differs from person to person with some people changing their habits in as little as 18 days to others who can take over 200 days.

By using both meditation and mindful movement through yoga on a consistent basis you should be able to break away from your old ways of thinking. Breaking these thought patterns, known as negative feedback loops, is key to growing a more positive mindset. This positivity, and leaving behind our old limiting self beliefs, is what will help reduce negative feelings over time.

Aromatherapy is used to help teach the brain to associate a specific aroma with the emotions we experience during meditation and mindful movement – calm and relaxation. Aromatherapy effects the limbic system, which is the portion of the brain that controls heart rate, blood pressure, and memories.
